On Wednesday, June 22, Sea Isle City’s Division of Tourism will host the resort’s 2016 Sara the Turtle Festival at Excursion Park, JFK Boulevard and Pleasure Avenue, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. (rain date: June 23). The festival will include a variety of free family activities, live entertainment, nature displays and the chance to pet a menagerie of exotic animals.

Stilt Walker
There will be no shortage of family photo-ops during the Sara the Turtle Festival in Sea Isle City on June 22. Shown with “Mackie” the Stilt Walker during 2015’s festival are members of the Garner family, of West Chester, PA.

Festival-goers of all ages will enjoy exhibits by the Sea Isle City Environmental Commission, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center, the Sea Isle City Beachcomber Guides and representatives from other organizations, who will offer information and hands-on displays. There will also be live animal exhibits by New Jersey Nature and the Wetlands Institute, featuring Diamondback Terrapin Turtles, snakes and other critters.  The 2016 Sara the Turtle Festival will also have strolling entertainers, face painters, an inflatable bounce house, a sand art booth, and a turtle nesting display by Sea Isle Terrapin Rescue – not to mention many family photo-ops.

Turtle on Grass
Roaming entertainment, environmental displays and live animal exhibits will delight families during the 2016 Sara the Turtle Festival on June 22 in Sea Isle City. Shown with an African Sulcata Tortoise during last year’s festival are members of the Haase family, of Lansdale, PA, and Sea Isle City, including Mom Jenifer, Matthew, 11, and Maddie, 14.

Non-walking babies are invited to participate in the festival’s charming “Diaper Derby” crawling contest, which will begin at 7:10 p.m. at Excursion Park. Then, at 7:20 p.m., boys and girls, ages 2 to 12, can compete in the evening’s “Kid’s Sprinting Races” on the JFK Boulevard Beach.  Awards will be presented to the winners of both competitions.

Turtlesingers
During Sea Isle City’s annual Sara the Turtle Festival on June 22, children will be entertained by upbeat music from Karen and Dick Buckley, of The Turtlesingers.

The Sara the Turtle Festival will culminate with a musical presentation by The Turtlesingers, who will introduce audience members to a variety of live turtles as they sing about the important role the hard-shelled reptiles play in nature.
