As I have said in the past, the fun doesn’t end on Labor Day here in Sea Isle City, because we have many terrific events happening throughout the year.

Case in point, on Saturday, September 7, we held our second annual Wedding Vow Renewal Ceremony at Excursion Park, where more than 30 married couples repeated their wedding vows and renewed their love for one another in their favorite seashore town.

It’s always amazing to hear how many people have special connections to this community – and how much they enjoy being in Sea Isle City – and I am very grateful to all of the “love birds” who participated in this year’s wedding vow event!

Earlier this week, we hosted Sea Isle City’s annual Patriot Day Ceremony at Veterans Park, where a sizable crowd of residents and visitors gathered to honor the thousands of victims who died during the 9-11 attacks.

It’s difficult to believe that eighteen years have passed since terrorists used commercial airplanes to launch coordinated attacks against our nation on September 11, 2001 – however we can never let the passing of time lessen the importance of that terrible day and how it impacted not only our nation but all of the free world.

I hope that no matter where you were on Wednesday, you were able to stop for a moment to honor and remember the individuals and families who suffered unthinkable losses during those horrible attacks. God willing, we will never see another event like that ever happen again.

Looking ahead, Fall Family Festival takes place this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, September 14 and 15 – and the weather forecast looks outstanding.

Each year, this event includes a huge vendors market, a popular food court, free amusement rides, an antique auto show and other family-friendly entertainment that people look forward to all summer.

So, plan to be in Sea Isle City this weekend and join the fun along the Promenade and at Excursion Park during Fall Family Festival!

In addition to Fall Family Festival, there are other events heading our way this month that you won’t want to miss, including Irish Festival Weekend starting on September 20, the Chamber of Commerce’s Around the World Social on September 27, and Harborfest on September 28 – so mark your calendars now.

Also this month, please join us on Friday, September 20, for our annual POW-MIA Recognition Day Ceremony at Excursion Park, and on Thursday, September 26, when the New Jersey “Run For The Fallen” passes through Sea Isle City in honor of all military heroes from New Jersey who died in battle.

There are special sections in this E-Newsletter devoted to the POW-MIA Ceremony and the Run For The Fallen – so please take the time to learn more about both of these events and join us as we honor the men and women in uniform who made tremendous sacrifices for this great nation.

To stay “in the know” and learn all about the events taking place in Sea Isle City this fall and throughout the year, please go to www.VISITSICNJ.com and click the “calendar” link on the home page.

As a reminder, starting at 8 p.m. tonight, September 12, and running through Friday morning, September 13, the county will install rumble strips down the center line of Sea Isle Boulevard. If you will be traveling along on the causeway while this project is taking place, be prepared for lower speed limits and lane changes – and please drive with extra caution!

This week’s “Shout Out” goes to all of the first responders in Sea Isle City and across the United States. Thank you all for your service.

Smile … You’re in Sea Isle!
