Members of the crowd stand at the 2017 Patriot Day ceremony at Veterans Park during the singing of the National Anthem. This year the event will be held at the Sea Isle Fire Department.

Sea Isle City Mayor Leonard Desiderio, city and county officials, and members of the community will gather at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, for the resort’s annual Patriot Day Ceremony.

Originally planned for Veterans Park, with a rain location at the public school gymnasium at 4501 Park Road, Tuesday’s ceremony is being moved to the Sea Isle City Fire Department at 233 JFK Boulevard due to possible flooding on Park Road.

During Sea Isle’s Patriot Day Ceremony, the thousands of lives lost in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks will be honored with words, patriotic hymns and the placement of wreaths.

The Fire Department is considered a perfect location for this event, as many first responders also lost their lives in the Sept. 11 attacks. It will also ensure that all of the event’s participants and spectators will be safe from bad weather.
