Tina McGarvey, of Sea Isle City, removes litter from the beach during the spring cleanup in 2023.

The Sea Isle City Environmental Commission is seeking volunteers for its spring beach cleanup on Saturday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to noon.

During the important community event, volunteers will remove trash and wind-blown debris from beaches, dunes and parks. Families, individuals and groups are invited to participate.

Volunteers are asked to register on the day of the cleanup at JFK Boulevard and the Promenade. Environmental Commission members will distribute gloves and other supplies – and assign volunteers with specific areas to clean.

Due to the beach replenishment project taking place in Sea Isle this spring, access to some beaches and dunes will be restricted during the cleanup.

Volunteers are asked to follow all instructions from the Environmental Commission when checking in to ensure that restricted beaches and dunes are not entered during the cleanup.

Also during the cleanup, the Environmental Commission will sell its popular “Watch for Turtles” lawn signs, which can be placed on front yards to alert motorists that diamondback terrapins are crossing the roads during the annual nesting season. The bright yellow signs cost $10 each.
