When was the last time you could buy a hot dog for a dollar – the 1970s or ’80s, perhaps?

Actually, it was Saturday.

VFW Post 1963’s Auxiliary of Sea Isle City held its fifth annual “Dollar Dog Day” fundraiser to benefit veterans and active-duty military members.

Hot dogs came straight off the grill at VFW’s headquarters at 301 John F. Kennedy Boulevard. The outdoor event also included soft drinks, soft pretzels and other snacks sold for $1 each.

Auxiliary members also sold limited edition 2023 “Dollar Dog” T-shirts for $10 each. A raffle was held for tickets to a Philadelphia Phillies home game.

The event also included Post 1963’s “Dollar Dog” mascot posing for photo-ops.

Proceeds from Dollar Dog Day benefited the nation’s veterans and active-duty military members.
