Strong winds are expected along the coast through Monday night, according to a weather alert from the Cape May County Office of Emergency Management.

Northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 40 to 50 mph are likely on Monday, especially in the morning. Stronger wind gusts are possible. Scattered power outages and tree damage should be expected during this time period. A Wind Advisory is in effect.

Gale-force winds are expected on the nearshore coastal waters Sunday evening through Monday night. A Gale Warning is in effect for this time period.

There is also some potential for blowout tides during the low tides Monday afternoon and Monday night, especially on the New Jersey coast, according to the weather alert.

A blowout tide occurs when west-northwest winds blow water out of a waterway, producing unusually low tides, according to the National Weather Service.
