Tropical Storm Isaias blew down a utility pole between the Andrea Trattoria and Oar House restaurants on 42nd Place, temporarily causing a power outage at the neighboring Sea Isle City Welcome Center.

“We are hopeful in days ahead we will have that power restored,” the city’s Public Information Officer Katherine Custer said Thursday.

While the Welcome Center remains closed, beachgoers may purchase beach tags on the beach or at the city’s Recreation Office located at 4501 Park Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

“Our beach tag inspectors will be at many beach entrances and on the sand selling beach tags. Veterans tags are only available in person at the (recreation) office,” Custer said.

In the interim, city employees have been temporarily relocated to other city offices.

“We are hoping in the next few days that we could move our beach operation and tourism office back into the Welcome Center,” Custer said.
