A coastal storm will affect the region starting Wednesday morning and continue through Thursday afternoon.

While snow is forecast for areas to Sea Isle City’s west and north, this will be a rain event for Cape May County.

One to two inches of rain is expected before the system moves out of the region, according to a weather alert issued by Sea Isle’s Office of Emergency Management.

Strong gusty northeast winds will cause minor tidal flooding on Wednesday morning and will cause more serious moderate tidal flooding on Thursday during the mid-to-late morning hours.

People are urged to move vehicles to higher ground, especially before Thursday morning’s high tide.

Secure all loose outdoor items that may be vulnerable to the winds, including trash cans and furniture.

Do not drive through tidal flood water. The wake your vehicle creates will damage nearby properties and businesses as well as severely damage your vehicle.

As per city ordinance, motorists may be subjected to a summons and a significant fine if they cause excessive wakes by driving recklessly through flood waters.

Should you need police assistance, call 609-263-4311, ext. 0. In the event of an emergency, call 911.
