More than 100 vintage cars and trucks appeared in an antique auto show along Sea Isle City’s oceanfront Promenade on Father’s Day to cap off the Skimmer Festival Weekend celebration.
An array of vehicles graced the Promenade, ranging from muscle cars and vintage trucks to a World War II Army Jeep and a variety of eye-catching sedans, some dating back to the early 1930s.
“The selection of cars was fantastic. There was a very nice variety, and the vehicles were very well-maintained,” said Jim Ambro, who has been hosting Sea Isle’s auto shows for more than 25 years. “This is one of the largest shows we have ever had, and we are very grateful for the wonderful turnout this year.”
Altogether, 105 cars and trucks were part of the show. At the end, two vehicles received trophies.
The “Mayor’s Choice” trophy was presented to Ted Gooding, of Absecon, N.J., and his 1936 Buick Century sedan, which featured a sparkling burgundy paint job, running boards and suicide doors.
The “Best in Show” trophy was awarded to Joseph Satkosky, of Sea Isle City and Fort Myers, Fla., owner of a 1958 Edsel Citation convertible, which boasted a shiny black paint job with red and white trim.
After the trophies were presented to the winning cars, many of the vehicles that participated in the auto show appeared in the annual Skimmer Festival Antique Auto Parade, which ran south on Pleasure Avenue to Townsends Inlet and then north on Landis Avenue to JFK Boulevard.
Sea Isle’s next Antique Auto Show will take place during the Fall Family Festival on Sunday, Sept. 17.
