Trash bags in hand, volunteers Harry and Peggy Tregear search for litter on the beach during the spring cleanup in April 2022.

Volunteers are needed on April 22 to clean up litter from Sea Isle City’s beaches and dunes – and plant dune grass.

Due to the inclement weather conditions during the weekend of April 1 and 2, the Sea Isle Environmental Commission’s spring beach cleanup was postponed until Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon (Rain Date: Sunday, April 23).

During the beach cleanup, participants will remove trash and wind-blown debris from the beaches, dunes and other natural areas – and they will also be asked to document what items are collected.

Additionally, some volunteers will be asked to plant dune grass, which will help protect Sea Isle’s dunes and shoreline.

Volunteers can register on the day of the event at JFK Boulevard and the Promenade, where Environmental Commission members will distribute disposable trash bags and other supplies.

Families, individuals, scout troops, civic organizations and representatives from local businesses are encouraged to participate.
