Mayor Leonard Desiderio will host Sea Isle City’s annual Patriot Day Ceremony at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, at Veterans Park, JFK Boulevard and Landis Avenue.

At the ceremony, the community will honor the thousands of lives lost during the 9-11 terrorist attacks in 2001.

The rain location for the event will be inside the Community Lodge, 300 JFK Boulevard (adjacent to the Sea Isle Welcome Center).

During the ceremony, several community leaders will speak about the many victims who perished in New York City, Pennsylvania and the Pentagon during the Sept. 11 attacks.

There will also be patriotic music and the placement of wreaths at the base of the park’s Memorial Fountain.

Another highlight of the ceremony will be the presence of the Minchelli family’s “Never Forget” New York City Fire Engine, which serves as a rolling tribute to the 9-11 victims.

Several years ago, the fire engine was restored, adorned with patriotic images and then given as a gift to retired New York City Fire Department Lt. Lou Minchelli by his family.

Sadly, Lt. Minchelli, a long-time Sea Isle resident, passed away earlier this year.
