Sea Isle City presents awards during Community Day celebration

Sea Isle City’s annual Community Day event was held Saturday in the newly opened $21 million Community Center.

The building was bustling, as attendees toured the new facilities and met with Sea Isle officials and employees, civic group members and representatives from county and local organizations.

Mayor Leonard Desiderio presented his annual “Do the Right Thing" awards to honor people in the community for their good deeds.  

Honorees included Kathy Custer, Rachel Grace, Alex Iannone, Jim McGowen, Bill Murphy, Maggie Sgalio, Ron Taylor and the Romano Family.

Each recipient was recognized for their service in Sea Isle, including their continued involvement in local organizations throughout the community.

Desiderio also presented the 2026 Beach Tag Art Contest awards. Winners included Sonita Bonita (Winter Holiday tag), Genevieve Conte (St. Patrick’s Day tag), Michael Marchio (Veterans tag) and Owen Thomas Kates (Seasonal tag).

Additionally, the First Bank of Sea Isle City presented the 2026 Community Partnership Award to VFW Post 1963.

The Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce presented the 2026 Scholarship Awards to Clare Capone, Antonella DiAntonio, Marissa Jones, Will Kutschera, Peyton Laricks, Ava Ryan and Jordyn Wootton.

Fran Dolan, of Overbrook Bicycle Association, presented an award to the Sea Isle City Police Department for supporting and assisting with the group’s 80-mile bicycle journey for the past 60 years.
