Katherine Custer, Sea Isle City’s director of Community Services and public information officer, was honored for her distinguished and long-term service during the City Council meeting on April 28.

Mayor Leonard Desiderio and City Council members presented Custer with a commemorative plaque thanking her for her years of service and praised her dedication to Sea Isle.

Custer began her career for Sea Isle City in 2007 as the public information officer and in 2012 was appointed by the mayor as director of Community Services.

In this multifaceted role, she oversaw the divisions of Public Relations, Recreation, and Tourism and served as the primary voice of the city.

Throughout her career, she was instrumental in several key initiatives, including a wide range of community programming, from summer concerts and holiday events to youth sports and senior activities. She also provided critical input on the development of the new Community Center and acting as the city’s primary liaison to the media.

“Kathy has been a dedicated public servant and an outstanding Community Services director,” Desiderio said in a news release. “While we are going to miss her tremendously, we are grateful for the standard of excellence she established. She has been a vital part of our leadership team, and we wish her nothing but the best in her well-deserved retirement.”
