Mayor Leonard Desiderio will auction off bikes during Community Day.
Mayor Leonard Desiderio and the members of City Council are inviting the public to Sea Isle City’s annual “Community Day” activities on Saturday, May 3.
Community Day will begin with a regular City Council meeting at 9 a.m. on the third floor of City Hall, 233 JFK Boulevard.
Events will also include free document shredding from 9 a.m. to 12 noon in the Welcome Center parking lot at 300 JFK Boulevard. Staples, clips, folders, tabs, binders, CDs, and DVDs are acceptable to shred, but hard drives will not be allowed.
The Community Day Municipal Bicycle Auction will begin at 10 a.m. in the Welcome Center parking lot. A variety of abandoned bicycles will be auctioned to the public.
All bidders must register prior to making bids (there is no fee to register; registration begins on site at 9:30 a.m.). Only cash or checks will be accepted for payment during the auction.
All bicycles will be sold “as is” and “where is” – and bicycles must be removed from the area when the auction is over. The rain location for the auction is the parking lot underneath City Hall.
There will also be a Community Day “Meet & Greet” from 10 a.m. to 12 noon inside the Community Lodge (adjacent to the Welcome Center). Members of the public will be able to speak with city and county officials as well as representatives from local civic groups.
The meet-and-greet will also feature free giveaways and a balloon artist for the kids, so families are encouraged to attend.
At approximately 11 a.m. inside the Community Lodge, Mayor Desiderio will lead a “virtual walking tour” through Sea Isle’s future Community Center.
The project will be displayed on a large monitor and will feature step-by-step digital images of each of the facility’s interior spaces.
Construction of the Community Center, which is underway at 4500 Central Avenue, is expected to be completed by this fall.
The Community Day awards ceremony will take place inside the Community Lodge at 11:30 a.m. Desiderio will present his annual “Do the Right Thing” awards, First Bank of Sea Isle City will present its Community Partnership Award and other community “standouts” will be honored.
