Barrio del Centro comes alive with colorful architecture and fragrant flowers.
St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sea Isle City hosts food drives each year to help those in need.
Each month, members of the congregation and other generous people in the community and surrounding towns give to help others.
The church's monthly food drive will be held on Thursday, June 6. Drop-off hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the event that is held on the first Thursday of each month.
People may drop off donations to the Parish Life Center. The church is unable to accept food after 1 p.m. or on another day of the week because this ministry is run by volunteers who have committed to a specific time each month, according to information in the church newsletter.
Donations support the hungry and homeless served by the Branches in Rio Grande, the Sea Isle United Methodist Church and Holy Redeemer.
Items most in need this month include:
- Baked beans
- Canned beef stew
- Cereal
- Cookies
- Juice
- Shelf stable milk
- Spam
The church congregation noted in the newsletter that it is grateful for the continued generosity from the community.
