As I mentioned during my report to City Council earlier this week, there is roadwork taking place in town, and I am very thankful for everyone’s patience – especially motorists, who have to endure occasional detours.
However, as we all know, this is the best time of year to complete municipal improvement projects (including roadwork) so we can be in good shape when the summer season rolls around.
In the meantime, please use caution when traveling through Sea Isle City while several of our streets and utility systems are being updated.
As I also mentioned at the Council meeting, it is anticipated that City Council will award a contract to Ernest Bock & Sons on February 13 for the construction of Sea Isle City’s future Community Center.
Once the contract is awarded, we can expect to see construction begin in the spring; and then, before you know it, we will be hosting a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the facility’s grand opening.
I mention the Community Center once again because it is a very important project that will ultimately offer something for everyone in Sea Isle City – and I am very excited to see it come to fruition!
Even though the winter season can be a quiet time of year, don’t forget that Sea Isle City is open for business year-round. Also, if you are looking for an ideal time to enjoy a winter getaway with family and friends, make certain you are here for President’s Weekend, when many of our restaurants and retailers will be open for business.
Plus, on Saturday of President’s Weekend, you can also enjoy the Mike’s Seafood Run-Walk for Autism – which is a wonderful event that will warm your heart!
Speaking of the Run-Walk for Autism, I want to thank Mike Monichetti for the kind words he shared during Tuesday’s City Council meeting, when he stepped to the microphone to thank the city for working with him and his wife, Jeannie, to make their annual fundraiser a reality.
We are more than happy to help this wonderful community event take place – including temporarily moving some of the benches along the Promenade and adding extra trash cans around Excursion Park.
The Run-Walk for Autism has grown tremendously over its 16-year history; and, in addition to attracting thousands of people to town each year, it raises huge amounts of money that positively impact the lives of countless families and special-needs individuals.
As I have said in the past, “by working together, we can achieve great things” – and the Monichetti family’s annual Run-Walk for Autism is certainly a great thing! Keep up the good work, Mike and Jeannie!
