Susan and Steve Ahern, founders of Sea Isle Terrapin Rescue, will release baby turtles into the marshes behind Dealy Field on the morning of Sunday, July 24.
Families are invited to attend this enjoyable and educational event – and to help release the baby diamondback terrapins into the wild.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. next to the Dealy Field hockey court on the bay close to 61st Street.
At the beginning, there will be a brief presentation, during which the Aherns will explain where the terrapins were found and the type of care they have been receiving during the past year. Afterwards, everyone will be led to the nearby marshes, where the baby turtles will be released into the wild.
Families attending this event are reminded to bring sunblock and bug repellent – and to be aware that their shoes may get dirty.
