The Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority oversees the county recycling program.

Due to limited end-markets and increased contamination potential, the Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority has announced that its recycling program is changing.

Effective October 1, the following items will no longer be accepted for recycling and should be disposed of as trash:

  • Shredded paper
  • All bulky mixed rigid plastics (all hard plastics regardless of size and color, including plastic laundry baskets, plastic toys and playhouses, plastic lawn furniture, empty plastic trashcans and plastic coolers)

Residents and visitors with questions should call the Cape May County recycling coordinator at 609-465-9026 or the Sea Isle City recycling coordinator at 609-263-6000, ext. 14.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please do not place your recyclable items in plastic bags when intended for curbside collection. All recycling items intended for curbside collection must be “loose” in rigid containers – and all rigid containers used for curbside trash and recycling pick-ups must be no larger than 35 gallons in size and must have a removable lid.
