The veterans of VFW Post 1963 and the members of Post 1963’s Auxiliary recently held separate meetings to administer the oaths of office to their 2023 officers.

The Auxiliary’s swearing-in ceremony took place on May 8, during which Peggy Moore was named the group’s new president.

One week later, the veterans of Post 1963 gathered on May 15 to swear in their officers for the coming year – including their new commander, Joe McLenaghan.

Moore is a retired school nurse who has been a “lifetime member” of Post 1963’s Auxiliary since 2019 and has most recently been serving as the group’s senior vice president.

She replaces Patti Lloyd, who has been president since 2019 and has helped Post 1963’s Auxiliary become the largest in the state of New Jersey.

McLenaghan is a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War in 1969 as a fight engineer onboard a Chinook helicopter. He is replacing fellow Vietnam War veteran Mark Lloyd, who has been commander of Post 1963 since 2021.

Both the veteran and Auxiliary officers of Post 1963 will officially assume their positions following a statewide VFW Convention on June 17 in Wildwood.
