Sea Isle City offers an array of entertainment and activities over Memorial Day Weekend, the traditional start to the busy summer season.

One of the many family-oriented activities the resort gives tourists and residents alike to enjoy each summer is the popular Family Movie Night, known as “Movies Under the Stars.”

Families enjoy kid-friendly, free movies while sitting outside at Excursion Park.

This Saturday, the city will open the 2022 summer film series by presenting the animated movie, “The Missing Link,” featuring well-known actors, including Hugh Jackman, who does the voice for “Sir Lionel Frost.”

The description of the movie on Google is this: Tired of living a solitary life in the Pacific Northwest, Mr. Link, who is 8 feet tall and covered in fur, recruits fearless explorer, Sir Lionel Frost, to guide him on a journey to find his long-lost relatives in the fabled valley of Shangri-La.

Here is the official movie trailer.

The “Movies Under the Stars” begin at dusk. Movie goers are asked to bring folding chairs or blankets to sit on.

Sea Isle City Public Information Officer Katherine Custer said Monday that the movies always make for a good time for families.

“Our summer movies are very popular, and we look forward to another great season of family-friendly entertainment here in Sea Isle City,” she said.

The movies are weather permitting. There is a long lineup of movies that are planned for the summer. Last summer, however, the weather caused cancellations of some of the showings.

“Unfortunately, many Jersey Shore communities experienced event cancellations due to the weather in 2021, but this year we are optimistically predicting a beautiful summer with ideal weather every day,” Custer noted.

She emphasized that the city “encourages people to stay informed regarding what is happening in Sea Isle City,” when it comes to possible cancellations.

“We ask our residents and visitors to sign up for Sea Isle City’s E-newsletter on our municipal website www.seaislecitynj.us; and, to ensure that no one gets caught in the rain, people can sign up for “Rained Out” event cancellation alerts at VISITSICNJ.com.”
