Mayor Leonard Desiderio

Even though the world seems to be in a constant state of uncertainty, I remind you that Sea Isle City’s government remains in operation, our public safety personnel are ready to respond whenever you call, our public works and water/sewer departments are running on all cylinders, and we are closely monitoring our current situation each and every day.

In short, your municipal employees and elected officials are “keeping an eye on the ball” for the people of Sea Isle City during these difficult times.

Like many other communities across the nation, Sea Isle City’s municipal buildings are currently closed to the public, with the exception of City Hall’s lobby, where a limited amount of City business is taking place. That being said, our City employees are still answering phones and responding to emails, so please contact us if you have questions or need assistance.

We will continue to update everyone by adding timely information to the home page of our municipal website (www.seaislecitynj.us), by keeping our visitors website updated with event cancellations and postponements (www.VISITSICNJ.com), and by sending out email alerts and this bi-weekly E-Newsletter. After all, one of the best ways to stay safe is to stay informed.

If you have a friend, neighbor or loved one who currently does not receive our newsletters and alerts, please encourage them to go to www.seaislecitynj.us, click the “Register for City News and Alerts” link on the home page, and input their email address.

In other news, April 7 marked the 50th anniversary of the date that Michael Crescenz posthumously received the Medal of Honor for heroic actions that helped save the men of his army unit and ultimately ended his life in 1968 during the Vietnam War.

A native of Philadelphia and graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School, Michael spent the summers of his youth in Sea Isle City – and we are very proud to call him “one of our own.”

Our hearts go out to the entire Crescenz family and all of Michael’s friends as we remember the 50th anniversary of his distinguished honor.

This week’s “Shout Out” goes to all of the doctors, nurses, medical workers, first responders and other hard working individuals who are on the front lines of the Coronavirus.

Thank you all for your efforts, and please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Even though our nation’s churches and synagogues are temporarily closed and we are not celebrating the springtime holidays as we normally would, I wish each of you a Happy Passover and a Blessed Easter.

Sincerely,

Mayor Leonard C. Desiderio
