As everyone is aware, numerous restrictions are in place in order to protect the public’s health, including the closure of our beaches and promenade as well as limitations related to rental properties and businesses.
Sea Isle City officials are, however, hopeful to ease some of those restrictions in the near future.
We understand that folks are eager to enjoy our beaches and promenade now, but our number one priority is health and safety, and we remain concerned that a premature opening would cause a dangerous influx of people.
Naturally, we will keep everyone aware as any changes occur. In the meantime, it is critically important that we all stay home other than for essential travel, avoid contact with others, and follow all directives from the CDC and other health officials.
Because we all crave normalcy and the familiarity of seasonal events, for many of us it was very disappointing not to celebrate Easter and Passover as we normally would.
However, we were fortunate on April 11 when the Easter Bunny made a very special visit to Sea Isle City.
After his arrival on that sunny day, the Easter Bunny climbed onto a Sea Isle City fire engine and was escorted through town, accompanied by vehicles from our Police Department and Division of Emergency Medical Services.
As the sirens and horns of the fire engine, police car and ambulance announced his approach, the fashionably-attired Easter Bunny waved to children and adults as they peeked from their windows, stepped onto their front decks, and cheered from their driveways. It was very clear that his presence made many people happy.
My thanks go to all of our first responders, who helped make the Easter Bunny’s visit extremely memorable. Additional thanks go to Shawna Mulford and all the folks at Let’s Party Events for graciously ensuring the Easter Bunny’s presence.
In addition to the kindness that was showered on us by Let’s Party Events, I am also grateful to the many other people who are doing their part to get us through these difficult times, including all medical workers, first responders, supermarket and pharmacy staff, food workers, delivery drivers, postal employees, cashiers, teachers, public works employees, and all other vital personnel – as well as the volunteers who are donating their time, resources and energy for others.
Now more than ever, it’s very important to say “thank you” to the people who deserve it the most, and I hope you will do so any way you can.
This is a constantly evolving situation, therefore it is very important to stay informed.
We are involved in numerous daily meetings and conference calls, as we continue to communicate with our partners on the state and county levels as well as those in neighboring municipalities.

Most importantly, please stay safe, stay well, and remain optimistic; and remember – we are all one Sea Isle City and together we will be stronger than ever.
