I hope everyone had a very happy Passover and Easter! We were delighted to see so many people in Sea Isle City during Easter Weekend – which was a bit windy but very sunny and mild.

In addition to enjoying the springtime weather conditions, many families also took advantage of last week’s special events, including the Recreation Office’s Easter Program on April 13 and the Tourism Office’s Spring Fling Family Fun Day on April 16.

If the good times that were enjoyed here in Sea Isle City during Easter Week were any indication of what’s to come this summer, we can all expect the months ahead to be fantastic!

Another perennial springtime event that many people look forward to is the Recreation Office’s annual Kayak Storage Rack Lottery, during which year-round residents and property owners can enter a drawing for the chance to use one of the City’s kayak racks at Dealy Field.

After hundreds of people entered, this year’s lottery concluded on April 15 – and the 112 lucky people who won the use of a kayak storage rack this summer have already been contacted.

If you were hoping to win the use of a kayak berth and did not receive notification that you won, remember that there is always next year – and, in the meantime, please also remember that everyone is welcome to enjoy the Jim Iannone Fishing Pier and Kayak Launch at Dealy Field, which offers exceptional views of the wetlands and is a perfect spot to watch the sun go down.

And speaking of being on the water, boating season is here again, which means large numbers of anglers, paddlers, sailors and motor-boaters will soon be enjoying the waters surrounding Sea Isle City.

No matter if you are on a vessel that is driven by engines, the wind or by your limbs, please remember that water safety should be the first order of business whenever you shove-off from the dock or splash into the bay or ocean. Being a waterfront community has many advantages – and some dangers too – so please be careful whenever you are on or near the water!

As you probably know, numerous events take place in Sea Isle City each spring – and I hope you can enjoy as many of them as possible this year.

One of our most popular springtime attractions is the Sea Isle City Environmental Commission’s Beach Clean-up, which took place this year on April 9 and attracted approximately 200 eco-minded volunteers, who removed hundreds of pounds of trash and wind-blown debris from our beaches and dunes.

My thanks go to all of the individuals, families and representatives from local businesses and civic organizations who participated in this year’s clean-up effort – and special thanks go to our Environmental Commission members for hosting another successful “beach sweep.”

Please mark your calendars now for the other springtime events that are on the immediate horizon, including Sea Isle’s annual Arbor Day Celebration on April 29, the Chamber of Commerce’s Spring Girls Weekend, which takes place from April 29 to May 1, Girls Scout Troop 41012’s Selfie Scavenger Hunt fundraiser on April 30, and the Chamber of Commerce’s City-Wide Yard Sale on May 7.

Another event I am very happy to mention is our annual Community Day gathering. After a two-year hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sea Isle City’s Community Day will be back in full-swing on Saturday morning, May 7.

During Community Day, you can attend a City Council meeting, shred personal documents (courtesy of First Bank of Sea Isle City), place a bid on a bike during our Municipal Bicycle Auction, speak one-on-one with City officials and representatives from local civic organizations, and participate in other activities as well. So, please join us on May 7 – and remind yourself why Sea Isle City is such a wonderful place by attending Community Day!

Smile…You’re in Sea Isle,
