As is always the case, Sea Isle City is an exciting place to spend New Year’s Eve – and for good reason!  While the final hours of 2016 were ticking away, countless people were enjoying dinner at eateries throughout town and the New Year’s Eve Jitney Service allowed many folks to leave their cars at home and leisurely enjoy the evening. Also, Sea Isle’s annual New Year’s Eve Celebration brought over 300 people to our municipal gymnasium on Park Road, where everyone was delighted by the event’s new theme: “America, Sea to Shining Sea.”  As children and their loved ones walked into the gym that night, they were greeted by a variety of new decorations, including replicas of well-known national landmarks such as Mount Rushmore, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Empire State Building. Then, at 8:00 p.m., Sea Isle’s annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show illuminated the night sky over the JFK Boulevard Beach with amazing pyrotechnics. In short, it was an exceptional New Year’s Eve in Sea Isle City!

Now that 2016 has come and gone, this is an ideal time to examine the year ahead. In Sea Isle City, we can do so with great anticipation, because 2017 promises to be our best year to date. Our City staff is working hard to ensure that the approaching spring, summer and autumn months will offer all of the events and activities our residents and visitors have come to expect each year – including sports camps and clinics, festivals, parades, family events, and our ever-popular Concerts Under the Stars.

Spoiler Alert: Our 2017 summer concert series will be fantastic, thanks to a line-up of popular tribute bands that will take you down Memory Lane and leave you cheering for more!  If you enjoy timeless music from some of the most notable entertainers of the past 50 years – including The Rat Pack, The Four Seasons, The Rolling Stones, Motown and more – you will love what we have planned for our 2017 Saturday Nights Concerts Under the Stars.  So, plan on spending every weekend in Sea Isle City this summer.

This week’s “Shout Out” goes to Jim Schneider, from Sea Isle City’s Department of Public Works. Jim is the man responsible for making the replicas of Mount Rushmore, the White House and the other amazing props that helped make this year’s New Year’s Eve Celebration so memorable.  Thank you for sharing your talents with us, Jim!

A Happy and Healthy New Year to All!

 Smile…You’re in Sea Isle!
