On the precipice of their bye week, the Buffalo Bills were looking for an easy win in week 6 at Arrowhead Stadium against the Kansas City Chiefs. The matchup in KC would prove anything but easy, but could Josh Allen and the Bills pull out a win against the Chiefs?

Jeffery Rusert of Jefferson County reports that the game came down to the wire in the 4th quarter, but the Bills were able to squeak out a 24-20 win thanks to a Taron Johnson interception. The chemistry between MVP prospect Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs is largely credited for this big win in Buffalo.

1st Quarter

Jeffery Rusert of Jefferson County says that the day didn’t start out looking so good for Buffalo with a fumble that lead to a turnover just 5:13 into the game. The bills marched downfield 60 yards to the Kansas City 17-yard line when Josh Allen fumbled the snap, resulting in a turnover and recovery by KC linebacker Darius Harris.

Luckily for the Bills, Patrick Mahomes threw an interception after an impressive 80-yard drive which led to a Buffalo field goal, putting them up 3-0. Buffalo had no problem driving the ball deep into Kansas City territory, setting up a field goal at Kansas City’s 21-yard line that would put them on the board.

2nd Quarter

The Chiefs wasted no time in the 2nd, with Mahomes passing the ball to Juju Smith-Schuster for a 42-yard touchdown, putting Kansas City ahead 7-3. Jeffery Rusert of Jefferson County reports that this was followed by a turnover on downs by the bills after a 13-play, 49-yard drive that would leave fans wondering if Buffalo could prevail at Arrowhead Stadium.

Just past the halfway point of the 2nd quarter the bills were finally able to put up a 34-yard touchdown pass from Allen to Gabe Davis. Buffalo badly needed this momentum shift, and the extra point from Tyler Bass would do so, putting the Bills up 10-7.
The Chiefs would answer with a massive 62-yard field goal from Harrison Butker. Jeffery Rusert of Jefferson County says that with the matchup at 10-10 heading into halftime, it was either team’s game to win.

3rd Quarter

Jeffery Rusert of Jefferson County reports that the Bills lucked out again when Kansas City missed a 51-yard field goal early in the 3rd quarter, leaving the game at 10-3 Buffalo. Allen and the Bills would capitalize off of this mistake with a 17-yard pass to Stefon Diggs, putting them up 17-10.

The Chiefs wasted no time in answering, with an 83-yard drive that would culminate in a short 3-yard pass from Mahomes to Mecole Hardman. The 3rd quarter ended with a score of 17-17 after another Buffalo turnover on downs left fans wondering what would become of their beloved Bills in the 4th.

4th Quarter

Jeffery Rusert of Jefferson County says that week 6 got even more heated when the Chiefs came storming out of the gates in the 4th quarter to put up another 3 points on the board, bringing the game to 20-17 Chiefs. The Bills would answer halfway through the 4th with a much needed 14-yard touchdown from Allen to Dawson Knox, putting Buffalo up 24-20.

Jeffery Rusert of Jefferson County says that Taron Johnson all but sealed the Bill’s victory with an interception during the second half of the 4th quarter. Allen and the Bills ran the clock out to bring Buffalo to 5-1 on the season and securing Allen’s place as an MVP contender.

Allen outperformed Mahomes with a higher completion percentage, more touchdowns, and fewer interceptions. With a combined 329 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions, Josh Allen was the clear choice for the MVP against the Chiefs in week 6.

Devin Singletary led the Bills in rushing yards averaging 5 yards per carry for a total of 85. Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, and Dawson Knox all nabbed a touchdown for a combined 259 yards. Jeffery Rusert of Jefferson County reports that Taron Johnson showed up in a big way with the late 4th quarter interception to seal the deal for the Buffalo Bills

Final Thoughts

The Buffalo Bills are a real candidate for the 2023 Super Bowl LVII, and it showed with their unrelenting resolve in week 6 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Although they had to fight for this 24-20 win at Arrowhead Stadium, it gave them the momentum they needed going into their week 7 bye and will surely show in week 8 against the Green Bay Packers.
