The Division of Recreation is now accepting registrations for their annual Santa’s Calling Program, which is held in cooperation with the Knights of Columbus of Saint Joseph Catholic Church.
During this free event, which takes place on Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Knights will “relay phone calls” from Saint Nick in the North Pole to children who have been pre-registered by their parents.
Parents who want their children to receive a personal phone call from Saint Nick are asked to register by 12 noon on Wednesday, by submitting their child’s name and a few other details at seaislerec.recdesk.com, or by submitting a paper registration form to the Recreation Office. Paper forms can be downloaded from the event’s calendar page at www.VisitSICNJ.com. No fee is required.
The Recreation Office is also gathering addresses for the Sea Isle City Volunteer Fire Department’s “Santa Drive-By,” which starts at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9.
During the free event, members of the Fire Department will drive a fire engine through Sea Isle City with Santa Claus onboard and briefly stop at homes, where Santa will say “Merry Christmas” and hand-out treats. Santa and his firefighter friends are more than happy to greet children and adults alike.
To register a Sea Isle City address for the Santa Drive-By, call the Recreation Office at 609-263-0050 by 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec.7.
Registration is also underway for the Recreation Office’s Holiday Lighting Contest.
The contest is open to any home or business in Sea Isle City. Judging will take place between 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14 by volunteers from Sea Isle City’s Garden Club, who will consider each display’s level of creativity and other features.
The first-place winner will receive $100, and the second-place property will receive $50 – both courtesy of First Bank of Sea Isle City. The third-place winner will receive a floral arrangement, courtesy of Rocky & Fred’s Creative Design Florist.
