Heat Wave Expected Through Wednesday

  • News
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Sea Isle City and other parts of Cape May County from 10 a.m. Monday to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The heat index – the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity – is expected to range from 105 to 108 degrees. Heat-related illnesses are a strong possibility, according to the weather forecast. “Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing,” the Sea Isle Police Department said in a weather alert. The alert urges people to try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening and to take action if experiencing any symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned places. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency, according to the weather alert. For emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, call the Sea Isle Police Department at (609) 263-4311.
