Police continue an investigation of the man's death.

Sea Isle City police received a 911 emergency call Tuesday morning for an unconscious, unresponsive man in the area of the 3700 block of Central Avenue.

Upon arrival, police and members of the Sea Isle Emergency Medical Service discovered a 49-year-old man, without vital signs, lying down on the shoulder of Central Avenue by 37th Street at around 6:30 a.m., according to a news release.

Police Chief Anthony Garreffi identified the man as Brian Stewart, of Sea Isle City.

No visual evidence of trauma could be identified at the scene. A forensic nurse from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office pronounced Stewart dead at approximately 7:30 a.m., the release stated.

An investigation continues. The body has been taken to the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office to determine a cause of death.
