Sea Isle City’s Division of Recreation hosted the 2023 Dave Farina Men’s Basketball Tournament on June 10 on the JFK Boulevard courts, where eight teams competed in the annual 5-on-5, double elimination competition.

The Dave Farina Tournament is named for a Sea Isle native who was a standout basketball player in his youth. A community volunteer and a past president of the Sea Isle City Tourism Commission, Farina is currently the owner of the Farina & Boeshe real estate company in Sea Isle.

The winning team of the basketball tournament consisted of seven friends (dubbed “The Good Guys”) who hail mainly from Delaware County, Pa.

The winners received a cash prize donated by Farina, as well as commemorative mugs that were supplied by the Division of Recreation.

In addition to the Dave Farina competition, the Division of Recreation will host two other men’s basketball tournaments this summer on the JFK Boulevard courts. They include the Steve Libro Tournament on June 24 and the Bill Liddell Tournament on July 8.

Teams in these events are limited to a maximum of eight players, with a maximum of 12 teams allowed in each tournament.

The entry fee is $150 per team. Each player will receive a team jersey, and prizes will go to the winning teams. Teams can register at www.seaislerec.recdesk.com.
