During the September 24 City Council meeting, Ordinances 1643 and 1644 were adopted following Second Reading and Public Hearing.

Ordinance 1643 prohibits the alteration of existing channels in the bay and encourages green approaches.

Ordinance 1644 establishes minimum and maximum salaries for City employees who are not covered by collective bargaining agreements, and it maintains consistency with salaries for employees determined by negotiated agreements.

Each of the nine (9) resolutions on the September 24 Consent Agenda was approved, including:

  • Resolution 169, which authorized the purchase of a new trash truck for Public Works.
  • Resolution 170, which authorized the purchase of a new Public Works vehicle that will be used for beach maintenance. (Please note: As we continue to review the City’s Fleet Management Program, City Council will occasionally approve the purchase of new vehicles to replace old vehicles).
  • Resolution 171, which authorized the approval of a Raffle Application for the Sailing Foundation at the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City.
  • Resolution 172, which authorized the approval of a BINGO Application for the Sea Isle City Italian-American Club.

During the “Pending Business” portion of the September 24 meeting, Councilperson Tighe asked for an update on the effectiveness of the new Flood Water Pump Station at 38th Street, at which time Business Administrator George Savastano explained that the new pump is up and running, and that during a recent minor rain storm it appeared to be doing its job.

Our next City Council meeting will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, in Council Chambers. We hope to see you there.
