At the start of the January 22 City Council meeting, Mayor Desiderio reported that the City will host a free marijuana and vaping awareness event titled “What’s Smoking in New Jersey” on February 8 inside the former public school building on Park Road. This timely presentation is open to the public and will feature a free luncheon and a great deal of important information that every adult should know.

Additionally, the Mayor announced that construction along Sea Isle Boulevard has been completed to allow opening of the full width of the causeway to traffic (final surface paving and transition to the parkway will take place in the spring). At that time, Council President Gibson made a motion (which the other members of City Council approved) to ask the Mayor to please thank our County Freeholders for accelerating the completion of the Sea Isle Boulevard Elevation Project.

Each of the four Resolutions on the January 22 Consent Agenda was adopted, including Resolution 021, which approved a Grant Application for $6,600 in Federal Funds for a “Cops in Shops” program.

During the “New Business” portion of the January 22 City Council meeting, a discussion took place regarding an ordinance to amend Chapter 16 entitled “Sewer and Water,” and adding a section to prohibit improper disposal of waste into the City’s storm sewer system and to prescribe penalties for the failure to comply.

Our next City Council meeting takes place on Wednesday, February 13, at 10:00 a.m. We hope to see you there!
