At the start of the January 8 City Council meeting, Liz Barrett, from South Jersey Quilts of Valor, presented a handmade quilt to Sea Isle City resident Ronald Delorefice. Mr. Delorefice is a Vietnam War veteran, who received a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and a Combat Infantry Badge while serving in the U.S. Army’s 25th Infantry during 1967 and 1968.

The members of City Council were honored to be in attendance while this latest Quilt of Valor was presented to one of our residents, and we thank Mr. Delorefice for his service to our nation.

Following the Quilts of Valor presentation on January 8, City Business Administrator George Savastano updated Council on the progress of the Sea Isle Boulevard Elevation Project. Mr. Savastano explained that the boulevard was expected to open in its final configuration in the middle of January and that the County is expected to complete the final stage of paving later this spring.

No ordinances were introduced or had second reading on January 8, however there were seventeen resolutions on the January 8 Consent Agenda, including:

·       Resolution 003, which authorized the re-appointment of Erika MacMurray as Sea Isle City’s Deputy Municipal Clerk.

·       Resolution 005, which designated three newspapers for City publications in 2019: The Ocean City Sentinel, The Press of Atlantic City and The Gazette Leader.

·       Resolution 017, which authorized the award of a contract for $98,000 to Think Pavers Hardscaping for the supply, installation and maintenance of new trees along JFK Boulevard and part of Landis Avenue.

·       Resolution 018, which authorized the award of a contract for $8,400 to Shore Animal Control Services, Inc. for the appointment of an Animal Control Officer and Animal Control Services.

Our next City Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, January 22, at 10:00 a.m. in Council Chambers. We hope to see you there.
