The Cape May County Zoo has received a $10,000 donation that will help support the construction of new attractions showcasing the animals.

Anthony Anzelone, president of Anzelone Electric Company in Cape May Court House, presented a ceremonial check on Friday to county officials for the donation.

“The Cape May County Zoo has meant so much to me and my family. I want to do my part to make sure the zoo that our family loves so much continues its tradition of excellence,” Anzelone said in a news release announcing the donation.

The money will help fund capital improvements such as the highly anticipated Zoo Education Wing at Atlantic Cape Community College’s Cape May Court House campus currently under construction, the county said.

“Anthony continues to be a pillar in the communities of Cape May County and we at the county are sincerely grateful for his support,” Cape May County Board of Commissioners Director Leonard Desiderio said. “We will be sure to dedicate the funding donated by Anthony to a worthwhile project that will improve the features of the zoo for visitors to enjoy for years to come.”

While expressing his appreciation to Anzelone for the donation, County Commissioner Andrew Bulakowski said that it is “gifts like these that help keep the Cape May County Zoo the jewel that it is.”
