Mayor Leonard Desiderio wants to find a place in town where dog owners can take their pooches to play.

For a variety of reasons, Sea Isle City holds a very special place in the hearts of many people. Countless folks made happy memories in Sea Isle during their childhoods, and they greatly treasure thoughts of those “days gone by” on the beach with their families and loved ones.  Others met friends here and formed bonds that have lasted a lifetime.  Others still met their spouses in Sea Isle City – and this is where their two hearts connected for the very first time.  With those “love birds” in mind, I invite any married couple who fell in love, were married here or simply made their “happily ever after” in Sea Isle City to a Wedding Vow Renewal Ceremony at 12 noon on Saturday, September 8, at the Excursion Park Band Shell, where couples can once again recite wedding vows and renew their love for one another.  This free event is open to the public, but we ask that participants register ahead of time so we know how many people to expect.  Additional information about Sea Isle’s Wedding Vow Renewal Ceremony will be forthcoming; however, in the interim my thanks go to Don Laricks, of Laricks Realty, for suggesting that we host this event. Thank you, Don!

I would like to remind all teenagers that Matt’s 18:20 Coffee House is open for business from 6:00 p.m. to 12-midnight on Friday and Saturday evenings this summer at the Sea Isle City United Methodist Church, located where JFK Boulevard meets Park Road. I commend Pastor Melissa, her family and her entire congregation for taking the initiative to offer our local teens and young adults a fun place to enjoy music, games, socializing, and, of course, great coffee.  Well done, SICUMC!

As is the case each year, the summer season appears to be slipping by far too quickly. Nonetheless, we still have many wonderful events to look forward to between now and Labor Day that will help you and your family make the most of the summer days ahead. In addition to our terrific line-up of weekly entertainment at the Excursion Park Band Shell – including our City-sponsored concerts, movies, dance parties and other great events – don’t forget that Sea Isle’s Division of Recreation is hosting a wide variety of sports camps and clinics, as well as S.A.T. workshops for high school students, art classes for kids, and a Marine Science Camp that will bring out the “Junior Marine Biologist” in any child. There are also plenty of exercise programs available each week, including Total Body Fitness, Beach Yoga, Boot Camp on the Beach, Beach Boxing, Basic Training, Sit-Fit-Seniors and Chair Yoga classes. So, disregard the calendar and enjoy this summer to the fullest!

This week’s “Shout Outs” go to the members of Sea Isle City’s Fire Department, Division of Emergency Medical Services, Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Beach Patrol, and Police Department for keeping us all safe throughout the summer – and throughout the year. Thank you all!

Smile…You’re in Sea Isle!
