Maureen Deely, APN

United Methodist Communities (UMC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Maureen Deely, APN, to the position of hospice consultant at Bridges at The Shores. Part of United Methodist Communities at The Shores, a senior care continuum, Bridges focuses on hospice and palliative care.

In this role, Ms. Deely, a resident of Sea Isle City, will lead staff in-service training, consult with Bridges’ residents and families and support the Bridges marketing plan. She holds both Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Nursing as well as post-masters level training as an advanced practice nurse. Numerous certifications add to her credentials: Advanced Practice Nurse in Adult Gerontology, Hospice and Palliative Care, Critical Incident Stress Management, Emergency Nursing, Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum, Emergency Medical Technician, Parish Nurse, Master Level Reiki, and others.

“Whatever the diagnosis, chronic disease or acute illness, the goal is to improve quality of life for patient and family. This palliative care focus blends seamlessly with the wonderful care delivered at Bridges,” states Ms. Deely, whose career was inspired by the kindness shown by her caregiving mother.

Currently director of the palliative care program at Shore Medical Center, along with her last appointment there as intensive care unit clinical educator, further qualifies her for this new consultant position. As co-chair of the Bioethics Committee, and member of Integrative Therapy Council, Spirituality Committee, Critical Care Committee, Cape Atlantic Coalition for Palliative Care, and others, further demonstrate Ms. Deely’s professional leadership. As an outcome of her comprehensive qualifications, professional memberships and numerous awards, Ms. Deely frequently presents at conferences and other educational forums.

The Shores is owned and operated by the United Methodist Communities which was established in April 1907 in Ocean Grove.
