Sea Isle City’s administration will host a Town Hall Meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, inside the former public school gymnasium at 4501 Park Road.

The purpose of the meeting is to gather input from Sea Isle residents and property owners regarding the future of the public school property.

Plans call for converting the old school into a community recreation complex. Cost estimates for the project range from $2 million to $20 million, depending on whether the school is renovated or torn down and a new recreation center is built in its place.

During the meeting, concept plans will be displayed and information about the existing building will be shared with the public.

Sea Isle City’s public school was closed in the spring of 2012 due to low enrollment, at which time the school’s students were transferred to the Ocean City School District.

Following Hurricane Sandy in October 2012, the school was used as a temporary City Hall-Police Department until a new Municipal Services Building was opened in 2015 on JFK Boulevard.

Since then, the former public school has been used mainly for recreation purposes.
