Sea Isle City’s tourism campaign has the catchy slogan “The Forecast is Fun!” to attract more families to town.

But what is there for the kids and parents to do once they start their vacations?

Sea Isle’s Division of Recreation and the Division of Tourism are lining up an array of activities to keep families busy throughout the summer season, including some new attractions and some old favorites.

“Factor in the many entertainment options being sponsored by the city’s Division of Tourism and you have all the ingredients for another memorable summer in Sea Isle City,” Public Information Officer Katherine Custer said.

The big attraction this year is a new $23,500 bocce ball court at the city’s Dealy Field recreation and sports facility.

Custer said it will be a “fine addition to the already fantastic sports complex.”

The contractor, West Bay Construction Inc., of Absecon, is expected to have the bocce ball court completed in time for the arrival of the peak summer tourism season.

A communitywide survey conducted by Sea Isle in 2015 found that bocce ball was one of the forms of public recreation local residents wanted to see in the city.

The city also offers residents and tourists tennis and basketball courts, a modern skate park, hockey rink and an abundance of grassy fields for baseball, soccer and other sports at Dealy Field, Custer noted.

“As always, Dealy Field will be a hub of activity for families who want to spend quality time together,” she said.

The city’s new pickleball courts made their debut in 2017 at the playground complex off JFK Boulevard.

At other spots in town, there will be plenty of activity at the basketball courts, playground and new pickleball courts at JFK Boulevard Park, as well as new playground equipment that is being installed on the 85th Street beach, Custer said.

For people who like structure in their quest to stay in shape, there will be fitness classes offered through the Division of Recreation. Sports camps and clinics are also planned throughout the summer. The popular Playground Camp and Basketball League will also return.

But if for some reason none of those activities seem right for you, there are others that might entice you.

Beach boxing, Boot Camp on the Beach, yoga, total body fitness, fitness for seniors and volleyball are among other activities offered.

Concerts are part of the lineup of family-friendly summer entertainment.

This summer, the city will also sponsor a lineup of free entertainment at the Excursion Park Band Shell. Entertainment includes “Classic Movies Under the Stars” on Mondays, family dance parties on Tuesdays, live music on Thursdays, “Family Movies Under the Stars” on Fridays and concerts by tribute bands on Saturdays.

The Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization is also developing plans to offer teen-oriented entertainment on Wednesday nights, including acoustic music, karaoke and artwork.
