Vacationers and residents should never get bored in Sea Isle City. That is, if they take advantage of all of the recreation programs the town has to offer.

From pickleball and basketball to kids camps and beach yoga, the city’s Division of Recreation offers an array of family-friendly activities.

While basketball is top on the list for many, other sports enjoyed are baseball, softball, tennis, soccer, street hockey and even bocce ball, all played at Dealy Field and other areas of town, as apparent on the softball windscreens.

Sea Isle City spokeswoman Katherine Custer, who is also the Director of Community Services, said there are plenty of reasons why recreation is so important to vacationers and also to the year-round community.

There are so many recreation programs to choose from and they are in full swing all summer, Custer noted.

“Once again Sea Isle City’s Division of Recreation is offering a full selection of summer activities ranging from art classes and playground camps for kids to athletic clinics and our very popular basketball league,” Custer said. “Beach Yoga, Boot Camp and Beach Boxing classes continue to attract those who want to stay fit.”

Some additions to the already-filled calendar of things to do in the city this summer include pickleball lessons year-round and also a CSI Camp for students in grades 7 through 12 who are interested in law enforcement or forensic sciences, Custer said.

Custer said the recreation programs attract a large number of participants and each year some are real hits such as the Summer Basketball League and Playground Camp, which both sell out each year.

The basketball league games take place at the JFK Boulevard basketball courts. Teams compete for championship titles. There are various groups broken down by age and ability.

In addition to sports and camps, there is also a prep class designed to help students improve their SAT scores.

“The Ace the SATs courses help high school students prepare for college entrance exams,” Custer explained.

“We encourage everyone to refer to Sea Isle’s visitors website for our full selections of events or phone the Recreation Office,” she added.
