Kindness in the Air: A legacy of service continues as Goettl teams up with local partners to fight hunger and collect donations across all service areas
LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The parking lot of the Las Vegas Review-Journal was alive with energy as volunteers in navy Goettl Air Conditioning & Plumbing shirts loaded frozen turkeys into the trunks of waiting vehicles. Smiles, laughter, and the sounds of gratitude filled the space as the line of cars stretched across the lot.
This Thanksgiving season, Goettl partnered with Three Square Food Bank and the Las Vegas Review-Journal to distribute 300 turkeys to families and individuals facing food insecurity. For many who showed up, the gesture meant more than a holiday meal – it meant hope, compassion, and community.
Goettl, a company founded in 1939 and now recognized as a leader in heating, cooling, and plumbing services across the Southwest, has long believed that comfort extends far beyond the walls of a home.
“This event is part of who we are as a company,” said Anna Nguyen, Warehouse Supervisor at Goettl Las Vegas. “We believe in serving people, not just through our work, but through acts of kindness that meet real needs in the communities where we live and work.”
The company is also broadening its giving efforts. In addition to the turkey drive, Goettl is collecting non-perishable food items to support food banks and pantries across all its service areas. Donations are being gathered internally from associates as well as from customers during routine service visits.
“It is a way for everyone, including our employees and our customers, to take part in giving back,” Nguyen said. “Together, we can create a ripple effect that reaches families in every city we serve.”
Food insecurity remains a daily struggle for thousands across Southern Nevada, where one in six children is affected by hunger. Events like this one bring temporary relief and lasting encouragement. Families who could not afford a turkey this year received vouchers from Three Square that allowed them to take home an 8-to 12-pound turkey, ensuring that Thanksgiving would be celebrated at their tables.
As frozen turkeys were carried to cars, kindness and gratitude were expressed from both turkey recipients and volunteers.
“It may seem simple, but to the people we met today, this is everything,” said Goettl associate Jessica Ridgway. “It’s a reminder that someone cares.”
Goettl associates from across the Las Vegas area volunteered their time, trading tools and service calls for gloves and food boxes. The group included technicians, office staff, and managers, all united by a shared purpose – to serve.
For Goettl Air Conditioning & Plumbing, giving back is an integral part of the company’s culture. The business was founded more than eight decades ago by brothers Gust and Adam Goettl, who built their reputation on innovation, integrity, and a promise to “do things the right way, not the easy way.” That legacy continues today in both service and community outreach.
Through its Goettl Gives initiative, the company supports local nonprofits and programs that promote health, education, and wellness. To date, Goettl has invested more than $120,000 in its service communities through direct donations and sponsorships. Earlier this year, Goettl’s Austin, San Antonio, and Phoenix locations donated a total of 3,500 backpacks to students in need.
The company is also a proud sponsor of the Get Your Rear in Gear 5K, an annual race organized by the Colon Cancer Coalition that raises awareness for colon cancer screening and research.
“When we show up for our communities, it is about more than writing a check,” said John Landefeld, Chief Financial Officer. “It is about walking alongside people, supporting them, and letting them know they are not alone.”
Goettl has also launched its Kindness in the Air initiative in multiple cities, including Phoenix, Tucson, and Austin, where the company highlights local nonprofits making a difference. By pairing corporate resources with local compassion, the program reinforces Goettl’s belief that kindness should be part of daily life.
As the turkey giveaway event drew to a close, a sense of gratitude marked the air.
For hundreds of families, the meal represented more than a holiday tradition. It was a reminder that even in challenging times, compassion still exists.
For Goettl, the day’s success is just one chapter in an ongoing story of service. The company plans to continue expanding its outreach in 2026, building on partnerships with local nonprofits and creating new ways for employees and customers to participate.
Goettl’s community work will continue long after the holiday season. Through its Goettl Gives initiative, the company remains committed to supporting families, strengthening neighborhoods, and partnering with organizations that bring real change. Every effort is a reflection of Goettl’s belief that true success is found in giving back.
