According to Derrick Gunn, Eagles' head of security Dom DiSandro was fined $75,000 for texting in the bench area during the team's preseason finale against the New York Jets.
According to league source eagles head of security/coach Dom DiSandro was fined 75 thou this past week for texting from the bench area during the Jets preseason game...the team filed an appeal but it was denied ...
NFL Media's Mike Garafolo says that the Eagles tried, unsuccessfully, to claim that "Big Dom" only had one of his two feet in the zone:
The #Eagles’ appeal, I’m told, was he had only one foot in the bench area. Apparently five toes was enough. Fine levied. https://t.co/x7Y5WnW61n
This does seem like a steep fine for a preseason game, although it's understandable that the NFL is particularly strict about technology that has internet access on the sideline.
In any event, the $75,000 will probably ultimately be paid by Jeffrey Lurie. If DiSandro is paid this much by the NFL, though, it does make you wonder how high his base salary is.
