The 38th annual Beautification Awards were presented to local property owners by members of the Sea Isle City Environmental Commission during the Fall Family Festival on Sept. 14.

Residential and commercial properties that have improved or maintained attractive architecture and landscaping were eligible for nominations from residents, visitors and property owners themselves.

From the dozens of nominations submitted, the Environmental Commission members selected eight winners, as well as one “Endless Beauty” winner, a property that previously received an award and has continued to maintain a pristine appearance.

All winners received a handmade plaque, as well as a gift card to Sea Grove Garden Center in Ocean View.

The Beautification Award recipients were the owners of the following properties: Palma residence at 218 37th Street; Sisters of St. Francis residence at 102 55th Street; Lewis residence at 9 56th Street; Dever residence at 112 58th Street, East unit; DiNote residence at 6413 Landis Avenue; Maguire residence at 7509 Central Avenue, North unit; Habib residence at 144 88th Street, East unit; and Gallagher residence at 144 88th Street, West unit.

The winner of the “Endless Beauty Award” went to the Wiener home at 5500 Pleasure Avenue.

The Environmental Commission is a city-supported organization that hosts a variety of green-focused initiatives throughout the year to beautify the island and educate the community about the importance of environmental conservation.

In the summer, the group sponsors free bi-weekly beachcombing tours led by volunteers. They host an annual tree raffle giveaway each spring for homeowners and also organize beach cleanups every spring and fall.

The commission also sells popular “Save a Turtle” T-shirts and “Watch Out for Turtles” signs to help protect the native diamondback terrapins.

Also, the Environmental Commission was recently honored with a 2026 limited-edition seasonal beach tag that bears the group’s name and features an image of the tallest tree on the island.
