From second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, to the New York Giants letting him walk in free agency, to breaking the NFL record for most rushing yards in one season and winning Super Bowl LIX with the Philadelphia Eagles, Saquon Barkley has had quite the journey.
Apparently, the last five years of that journey have been chronicled by a group that has the backing of one of the world's top filmmakers.
Wednesday morning, Prime Video announced that Saquon will premiere Oct. 9. The feature-length documentary from executive producer Martin Scorsese will feature footage from the last five years of Barkley's NFL career.
Obviously, the last five years have been transformational for Barkley. According to Prime Video, Saquon will cover Barkley's recovery from a season-ending ACL tear in 2020, "tense contract negotiations" with the Giants, and the journey of how those negotiations led him about 100 miles south to Philadelphia.
However, Prime Video said that above all else, the heart of Saquon is Barkley's personal journey as a father, a partner and a friend. Barkley is a father of two; he and his fiancée Anna Congdon welcomed their daughter Jada in 2018, followed by Saquon Jr. in 2022.
Culminating in the Eagles' Super Bowl LIX victory, Saquon will showcase just how much it took for Barkley to make it to that podium and raise the Lombardi Trophy high.
Interestingly enough, Prime Video was also behind the acclaimed Kelce film in Sept. 2023. The two-time Sports Emmy Award nominee, which followed Jason Kelce through the 2022 season as he debated retirement, became Prime Video's No. 1 most-watched movie in the United States less than 24 hours after its release.
A few Kelce producers also produced Saquon, so if you liked Kelce, you should tune in and watch Saquon on Oct. 9. Fittingly, Barkley will face his former team on the release date of his film, since the release coincides with the Eagles-Giants game on Thursday Night Football.
