The Sea Isle City Police Department will participate in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 25.
Police will collect tablets, capsules, patches and other solid forms of prescription drugs at a disposal site in the lobby of Sea Isle’s City Hall.
For more than a decade, the DEA-sponsored event has helped Americans easily rid their homes of unneeded medications – those that are old, unwanted, or expired – that too often become a gateway to addiction, according to a news release.
Take Back Day offers free and anonymous disposal of unneeded medications at more than 4,000 local drop-off locations nationwide.
Details for the Sea Isle City location follows:
A Sea Isle police officer will be in the lobby to answer questions and assist people as they arrive with their medications. However, everyone is asked to remove their names and personal information from medication labels before arriving at the Take-Back event.
The event will ensure that all medications will be safely destroyed – and kept out of the hands of children and those who might abuse prescription drugs, police said.
Liquid medications, intravenous solutions, vape devices with batteries, epi-pens, needles/syringes and other sharp instruments will not be accepted.
