No arrests were made by ICE officers in Atlantic City, a spokesperson told BreakingAC on Thursday.
Residents were concerned Wednesday, after video from a local Ring camera showed two law enforcement agents at the door of an Atlantic City residents.
A source told BreakingAC at the time that Homeland Security had U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents out in the city and Pleasantville conducting interviews and investigative actions.
"ICE is conducting routine law enforcement operations across the nation on a daily basis," the agency itself responded in an email at that time.
On Thursday, a spokesperson from ICE's Newark office sent a statement following up on what happened.
"Everyday brave ICE officers are carrying out our nation’s mission to enforce U.S. immigration laws, remove criminal aliens, and safeguard the American public," the statement read. "It is common to see ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Newark performing those duties throughout New Jersey. However, no arrests were made in Atlantic City yesterday."
The video showed ERO on the back of one woman's vest.
"Under the leadership of President (Donald) Trump and Secretary (Kristi) Noem, ICE remains committed to enforcing federal immigration law and upholding the integrity of our nation’s legal immigration system," the statement continued. "ICE will continue to identify, arrest, and remove individuals who violate U.S. law and attempt to circumvent lawful pathways to residency."
No local law enforcement agencies contacted by BreakingAC had been informed of any actions in the area.
