Shore Medical Center announced the selection of maintenance mechanic Herminio DeLaRosa as its Employee of the Year for his outstanding service and commitment to the Somers Point hospital’s operations.
A resident of Mays Landing, DeLaRosa was honored in a ceremony attended by his peers and hospital staff on Feb. 27.
“Herminio DeLaRosa is an incredible employee. His work ethic is impeccable and is key to success in our efforts,” Bob Robertson, senior director of Logistics, Plant Operations and Maintenance, said in a news release. “He treats the maintenance shop as if he is the owner and demonstrates his commitment to Shore Medical Center by always being the first and last person there every single day.”
Robertson noted that DeLaRosa is working on his high-pressure boiler license in hopes of moving to an operating engineering position in the boiler room, further demonstrating his dedication to the hospital.
DeLaRosa shared, “My goal has always been to make sure that everyone at Shore Medical Center feels as comfortable as possible. In my mind, the patient always comes first. I enjoy working in this environment and being able to help others. I am so humbled to be honored as Employee of the Year.”
Brad Foltz, director of Plant Operations, said it was great to see DeLaRosa recognized for “his incredible work ethic, problem-solving skills, and commitment to ensuring that the hospital operates efficiently.”
“Not only is he a skilled mechanic, but he is a great guy. He is always positive, smiling, and making people feel good. We are all really happy for him,” Foltz said.
Jim Crawford, Plant Operations supervisor at Shore, added of DeLaRosa, “I worked with him closely, and have seen time and time again his willingness to tackle challenging maintenance issues and go the extra mile for our staff and patients.”
