Members of the Sea Isle City Historical Society will host a free presentation on the infamous March 1962 storm that devastated the Jersey Shore.
Titled “Our Perfect Storm,” the presentation will be held 8 p.m. Friday, July 25, at the Excursion Park Band Shell, JFK Boulevard and Pleasure Avenue.
Local historians will describe how Sea Isle was impacted during the harrowing three-day event. They will also spotlight the resilience displayed by the local community during and after the storm.
Also, eyewitnesses of the storm will explain what they saw. Members of the audience will be invited to share any memories of the storm they may have.
These first-hand accounts – combined with a series of stunning photos displayed on the Band Shell’s giant screen – will illustrate how the storm impacted Sea Isle City.
Dr. Joseph A. LaRosa, Jr., a storm survivor and author of two books on the subject, will lead the presentation, assisted by Sea Isle native Pat Haffert and other members of the Historical Society.
There is limited bench seating at the Band Shell, so attendees are encouraged to bring folding chairs or beach blankets for their comfort during the presentation.
