Do you think you could swim an entire mile? In the ocean? Here’s your chance to prove it.
Swimmers are invited to compete in the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol’s annual One-Mile Ocean Swim on Saturday, July 19.
The race will be held rain or shine, starting at 11 a.m. An awards ceremony will follow at the Beach Patrol headquarters at 44th Street and the Promenade.
The traditional starting line for this box-swim event is located at approximately 61st Street. From there, competitors will swim north to the 44th Street beach.
However, in the event of extreme currents, the starting line may be switched to 27th Street, to be determined on race day. Any storm or surf condition delays or cancellations will be announced on the Beach Patrol's website at www.sicbp.com.
Online registration for the race closes on July 17 at 11 p.m. Same-day registration is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Beach Patrol Headquarters, where race packets will also be distributed.
