A Wildwood Crest woman is charged with leaving the scene of a crash that killed a pedestrian in Wildwood on New Year’s Eve.

Marilyn Glenn, 76, was arrested after an investigation into fatal crash in the area of West Hand and Hudson avenues at about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Surveillance footage shows the 66-year-old victim — identified only CC — walking south on Hudson through the crosswalk, according to the affidavit of probable cause obtained by BreakingAC.

When she is almost across the intersection, CC is struck by a yellow Chevrolet Trax heading east on Hand Avenue, the affidavit states. The force propelled the victim through the air.

The driver briefly brakes, and then continues onward before turning south on Park Boulevard, the video shows.

Glenn called police at some point during the investigation, saying she believed that she may have been involved in a motor vehicle crash, and that she was at a residence in Wildwood Crest, the affidavit states.

Police went to her home, and found a yellow Chevrolet Trax in the driveway with damage consistent with a pedestrian collision, according to the affidavit.

It was towed back to police headquarters and a search warrant was later approved. Pieces of hair were located in the bumper and hood of the vehicle, which had damage to the bumper, quarter panel and hood.

It was not clear when Glenn called police. She did submit to a blood draw. Those results were not available.

Marilyn Glenn appeared to cry several times during her brief hearing.

Glenn was arrested at the completion of the investigation admitted into the jail Thursday morning, records show. She was still in street clothes for her first appearance via video from the jail.

It was then that she learned the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office had not filed a motion for her to be detained.

The fact that Glenn has no criminal history or any previous driving violations led to the state’s decision not to ask for her to be held in jail, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Dara Paley told the judge.

The state did ask that Glenn not be allowed to drive at night, and that she have no contact with the victim’s family who specifically asked for that condition, Paley said.

Judge Marian Ragusa imposed those conditions, with Glenn not allowed to drive after 4:30 p.m.

The judge said that if there had been "a component of (driving while intoxicated)," she may have disagreed with releasing Glenn.

Her motor vehicle citations at this point include reckless driving and failure to report an accident.
