Wintry weather Wednesday into Thursday at the Shore

National Weather Service snowfall map

Snow is possible from Wednesday into Thursday, with South Jersey and the shore potentially seeing snowfall amounts of 2 inches or more.

Snow is expected to begin Wednesday afternoon and continue through midday Thursday.

The National Weather Service says that snowfall of 1 to 3 inches is possible in Atlantic and Cape May counties.

Slippery and hazardous road conditions are likely Wednesday night through Thursday morning, according to the Cape May County Office of Emergency Management.

In a related move for the freezing weather, the Office of Emergency Management has issued a “Code Blue” advisory for all of Cape May County this week continuing through 7 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22.

Code Blue conditions are in effect when the temperature reaches 32 degrees or below. A Code Blue emergency is intended to protect people living outside, on the street, in parks or poorly insulated settings, or who are at risk for cold-related exposure and possible death.

Anyone seeking temporary shelter in a warming center should contact their local municipality. Additional resources are available by calling 2-1-1.
