C.J. Gardner-Johnson is latest Eagle agitated by Emmanuel Acho claim

  • Eagles

"STOP COMPARING US PLEASE!!!" wrote Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson on X on Tuesday, in response to ex-NFL player Emmanuel Acho's claim that the Dallas Cowboys are "one Eagles offseason away from a Super Bowl."

"That sounds easy," deadpans LeSean McCoy in the video, originally posted by The Facility.

CJGJ isn't the first Eagles player irked by Acho. Here's edge rusher/linebacker Nolan Smith on Sunday:

Let's break down Acho's thoughts and give him a chance to explain.

"The Cowboys are one Eagles offseason away from a Super Bowl."

Translation: "If I were the Cowboys, I would simply have one of the best offseasons of all time."

"It's not easy, at all."

Understatement. But at least Acho acknowledges that there are some, uh, challenges here.

"But that is what they are. They're a running back away. Eagles offseason: Saquon Barkley."

Where tf are the Cowboys going to find another Saquon Barkley?!?

This is maybe where Acho realized he was taking a sharp turn toward crazy town. But he was rolling.

"They're a linebacker away. Eagles offseason: Zack Baun."

Zack Baun made just 14 starts in four seasons before signing a one-year, $4 million contract with the Birds. Somehow he ended up a Defensive Player of the Year finalist. Good luck to Jerry Jones and company trying to replicate that.

"They're one offensive lineman away. Eagles offseason: Mekhi Becton."

Becton signed with the Eagles for even less than Baun (one year, $2.75 million). And, like Baun, he wildly exceeded expectations. Again: Good luck, Dallas.

"They're one number two receiver away. No Eagles offseason there."

Ok. This part undermines the whole f'ing premise. But please continue.

"They're a defensive tackle away. Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter."

Davis was drafted in 2022. Carter was drafted in 2023. We've now wrapped in three separate Eagles offseasons.

Undeterred, Acho goes on to repeat that the Cowboys are one offseason away. "That's it."

In his argument, Acho trivializes the miracles that Howie Roseman and the Eagles pulled off during the 2024 offseason. He ignores the Eagles' acquisition of new offensive and defensive coordinators. And he ignores the core of talent was in place before the offseason changes.

Acho responded to Nolan Smith on Sunday, noting that he's been bullish on the Birds all year.
